Iron Teapot

Teapots are great because they are easy to use, don’t take up much space, and make sharing tea a highly enjoyable process. Unlike its clay and porcelain equivalents, a teapot made of cast iron is very difficult to break by accident. In fact, a well-made and properly maintained cast iron teapot is sturdy enough to serve several generations.

The Daoli Cast Iron Teapot consists of three components:

  • teapot itself (0.7 l)
  • monolithic lid
  • stainless strainer

Usage and maintenance

The inside of this teapot is coated with enamel, so you don’t have to worry about ‘training’ your pot in any particular tea variety, which is a common practice for clay teapots.

A cast iron teapot works best if preheated. This can be easily accomplished by quickly rinsing it with hot water shortly before brewing.

This teapot can hold about 0.7l of liquid, so using it you'll be able to brew half a liter of tea hassle free. Try to brew tea at 80ºC. This way you can be certain that most substances that make tea a healthy beverage are preserved and fully exploited.

Keep your teapot, the cups, and the pitcher on a single piece of thick fabric. By doing so, you can easily avoid unnecessary clutter, trap leaked tea and water, and keep the surface of the table clean and unscathed.

The inside enamel coating is strong but it can deteriorate if treated with abrasive materials. To clean the teapot just rinse it with a bit of warm water and rub its inside with a soft cloth or a paper towel. Dish washing liquids and soap are not recommended because they often leave a strong smell that can greatly affect the taste of tea. Instead, try using some baking soda. It cleans the pot just as well, if not better, and leaves no smell whatsoever.
